before the construction

Bringing life back to an old factory

Here's are a few pictures from the building before we start construction. It's 20ft to the bottom of the rafters - perfect for a bouldering wall.  At the east end of the building we'll sink an 11ft hole for the lead and route wall, that section of the building has no rafters.  Here the route wall will be over 40 ft at its highest point.

Looking east  -- the place is huge!

So much light - three sides all windows!

Can you see the potential?

WHAT ROCKS

the facts

It's huge!  Think of a covered football field.  Built in 1915 for the American Can Company, the site was an active factory until 1979, when the plant was closed.  The site was abandoned and neglected for many years.  Now it is part of a multi-building redevelopment project that includes the headquarters of Amer Sports - the parent company for Salomon, Wilson, Atomic, Precor, and Arcteryx.
